In collaboration with Monash University Peninsula, our health service hosted six students from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, as part of their semester of overseas study. The students visited Frankston Hospital on Monday 9 September, and were taken on a tour of several departments across the site, including inpatient and outpatient services
Joined by Deputy Head of School, Dr Helen Rawson and the Director of Education at Monash University Tamsin Jones. The students visited the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Women’s Health Unit, Birthing Suite, Special Care Nursery, 5FN, SSSU, 5GS, Haemodialysis, Chemotherapy Day Unit, WPW and the Inpatient Mental Health wards.
The experience presented the students with an opportunity to immerse and familiarise themselves with the operations of an Australian public hospital, interacting with staff and visiting different clinical areas around the organisation.
“I would like to thank Peninsula Health for another wonderful site visit for our nursing student visitors from Marquette University,” says Dr Rawson.
“I am always impressed by your dedication to our students and how welcomed they felt by everyone. All the clinical areas we visited were aware of the students and showed a genuine interest in helping them understand what each unit does.”
